CHILE: I love Valparaiso

Valparaiso wasn’t on my travel radar until I was already in Chile, which is a surprise because this coastal city has so many things things that I love; the sea, hillsides dense with brightly colored houses, a shipping port of colorful lego-like shipping containers, fresh seafood, and diverse architecture. You can take a break from walking up the super steep hills and instead take one of the many still operational ascensors (funiculars) that climb the sometimes 45 degree and steeper hillsides.  The air was very hazy the days we visited Valparaiso, which slightly muted the bright colors, but added a dreamy feel to the city.
