ARGENTINA: Buenos Aires

One week in May 2015 in Buenos Aires, Argentina

Highlights: Recoleta Cemetery, Tigre Delta, MALBA Museum, the San Telmo sunday flea market, walking around the Palermo neighborhoods, frequent trips to the Fueguia 1833 perfume shops, and eating delicious food and eating it often.

WHERE TO EAT: Pizza at El Cuartito, definitely go to Freud & Fahler in Palermo (everything is going to be great), try tamales at the old-timey El Sanjuanino (although we did the steak and grilled cheese and did not regret it), eat pork dishes at Chochan, get authentic steak with chimichurri and grilled cheese at Los Platitos, grab a casual lunch at any of the Farinelli locations, and stop at every Havana you see to sample all the flavors of alfajores cookie sandwiches, and then bring several boxes home with you.

On our last day in Buenos Aires, our friend Martin Sabater took us out on the Tigre delta in his little boat. The only way to get around the islands of the delta is by boat.

Following our day trip to Tigre, Martin brought us to Teatro Colón where we watched the Buenos Aires Philharmonic perform from our own balcony box.

No trip to Buenos Aires would be complete without pizza from El Cuartito!
