ICELAND Part 2: Vik and Southern Iceland Dronies

VIK

Vik is the southernmost village in Iceland.  The road through the seaside town of Vik winds through hillsides topped with the most charming little homes and churches.   The Vik coast features a volcanic black sand beach, massive cliffs and vertical spiny islands in the sea.  Formed into the cliffs on the beach are basalt columns and caves, unique rock formations created thousands of years ago by hardened lava.  I climbed up the stepped rock columns and laid on their tops as I flew my drone.

(Fjaðrárgljúfur)

Fjaðrárgljúfur is a completely surreal canyon in Southern Iceland that was created at the end of the last ice age by glacial meltwater carving through the earth around 9000 years ago.
