Souvenir Shopping on Easter Island

I was almost as excited to visit Easter Island to see the famous Moai stone statues as I was to see the assortment of souvenir Moai statues I was sure that there would be. The island did not disappoint, every shop in the main town Hanga Roa sold the miniature statues carved from wood, stone, or molded from resin, some with sand from Anakena beach suspended in resin. At a few of the attractions were stands or tables set up displaying dozens of the carefully arranged heads.  It was like being a kid in a candy store trying to decide which Moai I would choose to buy to bring home.
